The Ritual Shampoo is shampoo in its most ideal form: a lightweight, yet powerfully cleansing formula that uses naturally-derived, coconut-based surfactants to lift grease, dirt, and pollutants from your hair.
We took a year to get it right, culling feedback from hundreds of reviews from our community. Our final formula is a super-clean—sulfate- and PEG-free—shampoo that works. It removes everything you need it to and nothing you don’t, protecting your scalp and its natural balance for fresh, lightly moisturized and subtly fragranced hair.
The Ritual Shampoo is designed for all hair types, textures and lengths. It works especially well on normal and oily strands, and is also safe for color-treated hair.
How to Use
Depending on your hair type, brushing dry prior to washing it helps to loosen the kinds of things you want to get rid of: dirt, skin, sweat, sebum, and product buildup. This makes for a cleaner cleanse. Start at the crown of your head and work your way around in long, even strokes.
Thoroughly wet hair and work The Ritual Shampoo—just enough to cover your scalp—through strands and rinse. If desired, repeat with a second shampoo for a two-step ritual. The first wash breaks down oils and buildup; the second rinses them out and creates a richer lather. Follow with The Ritual Conditioner and a nice scalp massage.
The Ingredient Story
Coconut Surfactant System
Traditional cleansing products rely on harsh chemicals and sulfates like SLS that strip your strands, resulting in an overproduction of oils over time. But the Ritual Shampoo is formulated differently. It cleanses using a naturally-derived, coconut-based surfactant system. These surfactants are eco-friendly and gentle on the skin, with a high-foaming lather so you can use less—with better results.
Tsubaki Seed Oil
Tsubaki seed—also known as camellia seed—moisturizes and strengthens the hair shaft from the inside, preventing damage and making hair more flexible. Thanks to its lightweight, non-greasy nature, it’s the ultimate hydrating ingredient for all hair types.
